It is always a good idea to have a Bird first aid kit that meets your pets’ specific needs. This is why a bird first aid kit is an essential part of every bird fancier medicine box.

What should be in a bird first aid kit?

To prepare for these bird first aid kit at home. You must make one yourself and include the following items:

  • Styptic powder :  is an antiseptic clotting agent that is most often used in pet grooming. Much like a styptic pencil, which is made of alum, the powder stops bleeding by contracting the blood vessels.
  • Cornstarch
  • Antiseptic wipes : they are used for sterilizing. Antiseptic wipes kill germs and sanitize skin or whatever surface to which they are applied.
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers : used for grasping objects too small to be easily handled with the human fingers
  • Eyedropper : re used to treat many common conditions. They may be used for itchy or tired eyes as in allergies
  • Popsicle sticks for splinting
  • Latex gloves : are an effective shield for the hands and wrists against certain chemicals, including detergents, alcohols, biohazards such as viruses and bacteria, bodily fluids, abrasive materials, and more
  • Forceps or hemostat (locking) : These ratcheted forceps, also known as locking forceps, are used to keep tissue or objects in place or to provide hemostasis.
  • Pedialyte (electrolyte solution for children) : edialyte electrolyte drink is medical-grade hydration that quickly replenishes lost fluids and electrolytes. Pedialyte promotes fluid absorption more effectively than sports drinks, juice, or even water. 
  • Magnifying glass
  • Penlight
  • Heating pad or lamp
  • Clean towel(s)

Is Betadine good for birds?
